SMOKE AND MIRRORS

Albie Selznick is the creator and performer of Smoke and Mirrors, premiering at the Santa Monica Playhouse. Selznick was co-founder of The Mums, a popular circus/theatre trio of the 80/s and 90's. Today, though basically known as an actor (stage, film, and TV), he has returned to his "roots" performing a magic and juggling act in this engagement. Magic continues to mystify me, and Selznick's act is no exception.

How does he eat fire without being burned? How does he swallow razor blades without being cut up? Even when he does the usual magic "schtick" done by most magicians, he is still mystifying. His act not only includes magic and juggling (which he skillfully performs), but storytelling , unusual illusions, and a "wild and crazy" rabbit.

This is a fun show for all of the family, particularly apropos at this time of year. It is co-directed by Paul Millet and Bettina Zacar. Zacar also serves as the lighting designer. Smoke and Mirrors, is performed Saturdays at 7 PM and 10 PM and Sundays at 7 PM at the Santa Monica Playhouse, 1211 Fourth St., Santa Monica.

It will continue through December 11. Tickets are available by going on online at www.smokeandmirrors.me, or www.tix.com,, or by calling (800) 494-4849.
